All five artists have held shows that have been very well received and the aim of this show is to highlight and compare both the range of talent and quality of work being produced by this group of young artists.
Background: Sunjin, one of Singapore’s leading art galleries, has built a strong reputation representing some of the leading and most sought after artists in the region. The gallery has also actively identified and promoted new talent, introducing new and exciting names for the art buying public to invest in.
The artists and their works:
Debasish Manna, one of the most bankable and top semi-abstract artists in Kolkata, very much sort after by collectors internationally. Guided by pure instincts, his forms are very expressionistic and the vivid colours bring about the expanse and magnamity of beautiful flowers blooming to life on canvas. Swaroop Biswas mostly paint from reflection of himself and his interaction with society. Biswas studied colour psychology which can be seen in the 3 works he presented this exhibition, mostly a reflection of himself revealing his innermost feelings, fears, emotions, expressions, insecurities and nakedness. Sohan Jakhar, his second exhibition with Sunjin Galleries, his works are pop art like and very apt with the present society. Seby Akkara, uses lots of very strong yoga meditative symbols to express the physicality of the human body in yoga. The yoga series in this exhibition, represents an original and carefully observed set of images of images portraying the body being yoked into postures that have been developed over thousands of years to harness the unlimited potential of mind spirit and body. Lastly, Tushar Waghela uses mythology and ancient icons to gel with modern civilization.
