Swaroop Biswas (Indian)

I paint from an inward space, inspired by intuition and insight. I move completely outward, drawing from my experiences and interactions with people and nature and then move inwards to further draw from that deep inner source within. Outbound looking results in the watercolour landscapes and my interpretations of the things around. Inbound looking results in paintings that reveal my innermost feelings, fears, emotions, expressions, insecurities and nakedness. These are then transferred on to canvas through different symbols.

My thinking process on a painting starts much before I face the canvas. It’s a continuous process that goes on while I experience life. Images are constantly imprinted in the window of my mind. I’ve studied colour psychology and revel in the craft of playing with shape, colour and composition. I like to visualise a scenario and dwell in it for a while, before vision and paint meet to create their magic on canvas. - Swaroop Biswas
